A Scout is…
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Nate Corkhum

Nate has had a strong interest in fishing since his early years in scouting. He wanted to select a project that reflected his passions, and at the same time served a need for his town. Based on this, he determined that there was a need for fishing line disposal units near the popular fishing areas in Marshfield. He built and installed these receptacles to help protect the environment from the hazards of fishing lines.

Connor Goodwin

Connor’s Eagle Scout Project was to build a new gaga ball pit for Ferry Hill Center, a local non-profit with the mission: Everyone belongs and let us be kind to one another. Ferry Hill Center was established in 2019 at the former YWCA facility. Ferry Hill wanted to continue the long-standing summer camp program that had been cherished by the town for many years. Gaga ball is an important game for campers and the camp was in need of a new gaga ball pit. Connor had to remove an existing fire pit to prepare the space, research and select a gaga ball pit design, procure materials, then direct a team of family and friends to build and install it. The gaga ball pit was a great success for the 2022 summer camp program, and the Ferry Hill Center is looking forward to using it for many years to come.

Johnny Pozerski

Johnny had a few options for his Eagle Project and he chose the one that he thought would have a lasting and meaningful impact for the Marshfield community. For his project, he restored Marshfield Fire Department’s Marine 3, a 1972 Boston Whaler Super Sport. What we witnessed was a young man take a few ideas from a conversation he had with the Fire Chief and develop a leadership project that required extensive research, town-approvals, fundraising, scheduling, and solicitations from executives of Boston Whaler and Mercury Marine for a new 40 HP outboard motor. His project required over 1,300 man-hours from February of 2022 to February of 2023. The town will celebrate a recommissioning ceremony for MFD-Marine 3 in the Spring of 2023.

Aidan Roberge

For his Eagle Project, Aidan made four flag collection boxes on behalf of Marshfield Veterans Services that will collect worn-out flags people drop off for proper retirement. The boxes are located at Marshfield Town Hall, Daniel Webster VFW Post 8345, Marshfield Elks Lodge 2494, and DAV Chapter 35. A total of $750 in donations were made by the Marshfield Elks, Kiwanis, VFW, and VFW Auxiliary, in addition to plywood supplied by John Foster Lumber.

James White

For his Eagle Scout project, James organized the 1st Annual David Moeykens Tennis Tournament that was hosted on the Marshfield High School tennis courts. James’s good friend, David Moeykens, passed away in June of 2021, after a hard-fought battle with glioblastoma. James planned, organized, and executed the tennis tournament to bring David’s friends and family together to remember and honor David; raise awareness of glioblastoma; and raise money for the David Moeykens Scholarship. As part of the project, James built a website (davidmoeykens.com) for David’s family to use for future fundraising efforts in David’s name. The tournament raised over $4,200 for the David Moeykens Scholarship, which will help a Marshfield High School student in David’s class pay for college tuition.
